CAMPINAS, Brazil – The Aviagen® Latin America team was excited to be a part of the XXXIII National Poultry Congress in Panama City, Panama, which was organized by the Panama Poultry Association ANAVIP. Taking place Oct. 27-28, the Congress brought together more than 1,000 poultry industry stakeholders from Panama and throughout Central America.
The event presented an ideal opportunity to network; share the latest on poultry developments, innovations and market opportunities; and strengthen business relationships.
At the Aviagen booth, the team mingled with customers and other visitors, and engaged in conversations on the unique benefits the Ross® 308 AP brings to Central American poultry growers, as well as ways to maximize the health, welfare, efficiency and performance of these birds. They also discussed Aviagen’s commitment to “breeding for welfare and sustainability,” and the benefit of this breeding goal to customers, the birds in their care, and the planet we all call home.
Aviagen speaker Marcus Briganó, Technical Services Manager for Aviagen Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean (CAME) and South America excluding Brazil (SAEB) was there to offer his expertise on best practices in broiler management, beginning the week before hatch in the hatchery to two weeks of age on the farm. Some of his important topics included the importance of equipment maintenance, temperature and ventilation control, and feed and water. Other beneficial advice was on the reuse of litter. Apart from economic benefits, reusing poultry litter has also been proven to deter the growth of pathogens like Salmonella. (See the Poultry Site for more on this topic.) Briganó presented techniques to optimize this practice.
“It is important for Aviagen Latin America to offer a local touch to customers and other producers in Panama, showing in person our commitment to bringing the latest and best advice for getting the most from their flocks,” remarked Briganó.
Juan Diez, Business Manager for Aviagen CAME also welcomed visitors to the Aviagen booth and commented, “We are a proud sponsor of the Congress and appreciate the work of ANAVIP. We share with the organization a commitment to the farmers of Panama, and giving them the tools they need for success in feeding the people of Panama, Central America and beyond.”
