Osool Poultry Company in Oman receives first two placements of the Ross 308
EDINBURGH, Scotland. – In January and February, The Aviagen® Ross® team successfully completed two separate orders of 180,000 Parent Stock Ross 308 birds, each in 3 shipments, to Osool Poultry Company in Oman.
Osool Poultry Company was established in 2016, with the aim of producing 150 million hatching eggs per year to sell to the local broiler integrations, and also to export broiler hatching eggs globally in the future. This project is considered one of the most promising in Oman, and aims to achieve high self-sufficiency and enhance food security within the country.
Osool Poultry Company consists of 6 rearing farms with 72 houses and 12 production farms with 144 houses, all of which are divided into three land plots with an area of 15 square kilometers per plot. In addition to these facilities, Osool Poultry Company also has a feed mill with a capacity of 20 tons per hour, and a slaughterhouse that can process up to 7,200 birds daily.
Eng Mohammed Suhail al Shanfari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Osool Poultry Company, commented, “The project is one of the biggest and most unique projects in the Middle East. It is built on an area of 47 square kilometers in Al Ghaftain, in the Wilayat of Haima. It significantly contributes to achieving the Government’s efforts and goals in targeting economic diversification, and creating job opportunities for Omani citizens in various fields and specializations. We are excited to start this project with the Ross 308 breed and look forward to our future collaboration with the Aviagen and Ross teams.”
