Aviagen Latin America Customers Explore Importance of Good Physical Development in Early Stage of Rearing

Richard Bailey will talk about the influence of early physiological development on broiler performance for Latin American customers

Richard BaileyCAMPINAS, Brazil – In an upcoming Aviagen® Latin America webinar on May 5, customers will engage with Aviagen Poultry Health Scientist Richard Bailey on the influence of early physiological development on broiler performance. Management factors that are important during the early stages of rearing include proper cleaning and sanitation of the poultry house and a clean and fresh water supply. Good intestinal tract development is also critical, and Bailey will emphasize ways to improve intestinal health.

About Richard Bailey

Bailey lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, and has been working as a poultry health scientist on Aviagen's Research and Development team since 2010. In this role, he is involved in research initiatives that focus on poultry health, investigating the anatomy, physiology, immunology and microbiology of birds. His main area of interest is in the health and physiology of the intestinal tract and understanding of the relationship between genetics, intestinal immunity, intestinal development and the resident microflora (microbiota). He holds a bachelor's degree from the Royal Veterinary College of London, a Master of Animal Husbandry and Genetics from the University of Edinburgh and a Ph.D. from the Food Research Institute in Norwich, UK, focusing on intestinal health, dysbacteriosis and the microbial ecology of bird intestines.
