Aviagen experts share latest knowledge at 1st OVUM congress in 3 years
CAMPINAS, Brazil – The Latin American poultry community from countries across the region gathered during Sept. 6-9 for the Latin American Poultry Congress (OVUM), held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. This year marks the 27th edition of this biennial global meeting place for the entire poultry sector. Aviagen® Latin America’s sales and customer service teams were out in full force to greet and meet with customers and industry colleagues. Topics of discussion ranged from the benefit of the Ross® 308 AP chicken to Latin American farmers, to the importance of “Breeding for welfare and sustainability.”
At the conference, Aviagen’s Director of Global Genetics Santiago Avendaño spoke on "Genetics, welfare and sustainability, while Regional Technical Service Veterinarian Rodrigo Espinosa shared his insight on "Antibiotic-free programs and reduced use of antibiotics in broiler production."
“A top commitment for Aviagen is ‘Transparency, communication and engagement,’ and sharing the latest knowledge is one way we contribute to the sustainability of the poultry industry and the economic success of our customers – Latin America’s chicken producers,” said Juan Diez, Business Manager for Aviagen CAME. “Through our corporate value of ‘Breeding for welfare and sustainability,’ we simultaneously introduce advancement in feed efficiency, performance, and health and welfare. These traits are good for birds, while our customers reap multiple benefits as they work hard to put food on every table in Latin America and beyond.”
Aviagen Marketing Manager for Latin America Fábio Carnevale commented on the success of this year’s event, which didn’t take place last year due to the pandemic. “We were thrilled to meet with our valued customers, listen to their challenges and together discuss ways to optimize the productivity of their Ross 308 AP flocks. We look forward to once more engaging in this important event at OVUM 2024 in Punta del Este, Uruguay.”
